A History.....

Building the Foundation

 College AcademyŽ was first offered during the summer of 1979 by the Harrington family, who designed the program for students currently in grades 3-7. It was their vision to provide fast learners with a unique, hands-on academic experience in Art, Computers, History, Fantasy Gaming, Math and Science and more. During the inaugural summer, at Framingham State College, over 260 students experienced, "Where Learning Is Fun."

During the second year, nearly 1,000 students attended the program as parents began to recognize the benefits of a small class size, unique course selection and talented instructors. Year over year, College AcademyŽ has built a solid reputation based on its ability to provide students with a diverse set of courses activities while maintaining its high standard of academic challenges.

Developing the Growth

Since originating the hands-on academic summer experience in the New England region, nearly 30,000 students have discovered "Where Learning Is Fun." During the past 30 years, College AcademyŽ has developed into a premier non-residential enrichment program offered at 3 locations with 4 program sessions.

We are thrilled to have spanned a generation with former students sending their own children to the program, other "alumni" are working as instructors and even a few hold the position of Site Director.
 


 
Sustaining the Quality by Maintaining Focus

Rather than expanding into a number of unrelated activities, our organization has remained focused on educating students through our hands-on approach both in and out of the classroom.

  • Our curriculum is developed by the program's Founder in conjunction with our Site Directors, Central Administration and Teaching Staff.
     

  • We do not hire outside agencies to recruit or interview our teaching candidates.
     

  • Each student schedule is done by hand to ensure your selection and satisfaction. Whenever necessary, you are contacted to verify any questions that may arise during this process.
     

  • College AcademyŽ provides an exceptional value to parents and students who are seeking a unique hands-on academic experience.
     

  • There are no "ladders" to climb when seeking answers. Throughout the registration process, your issues are quickly and clearly addressed by one of the two central administrators.
     

  • During the program, the Director has complete control and his/her decisions reflect those of the central administration. The only exception is that all financial issues are handled out of the central office.
     

  • Supported by a five member board, the Founder and two Executive Directors (Central Administration) work year-round to provide each student with exciting academic experiences. Meticulous attention is paid to each detail so that your experience is one to remember.
